JurisPro Expert Witness Directory

JurisPro Expert Witness Directory is a free-to-search expert witness directory available on the World Wide Web. While there are quite a few directories of this nature available, JurisPro stands out with its clean, professional site lay-out, the level of information provided for each expert, the intuitive navigation of the site, and the interactive options offered. JurisPro does not charge retention fees for witnesses selected from the site and they offer a free search service to find experts for you if you can't find one on the site.

The site provides several ways to navigate. Users can search by expertise, name, or company. Additionally, there is a list of expert categories that can be browsed, eventually drilling down to the expert listings. The search result page offers the expert's name, a brief summary, and their state. Click on a witness to find a tremendous amount of information to help make an informed decision. On the profile page experts have the opportunity to provide a picture and a sound clip so that users can see and hear them. The profile page also provides a detailed description of the expert's services, complete contact information with address, phone, fax, and e-mail, and a link to the expert's web page. Also there is a "E-mail this Profile" button to easily share results with others.

From the profile page, users will see tabs for further information on the expert. A click on the "background" tab takes you to a question and answer session with the expert. This Q and A provides information such as accreditation, licenses, degrees held, number of court appearances and depositions, if the witness has ever been fined, percentage of times retained for the plaintiff or defendant, billing rates, and more. Additional tabs offer text of articles, CVs, and references.

Although JurisPro is a relative newcomer in the expert witness directory world, the database is more than adequately populated, both by expert categories and states represented. Easy navigation, detailed listings, and interactive enhancements makes this directory stand out in the sea of expert witness directories. This free service should be among one of your first stops when locating expert witnesses on the Internet.

Go Borderless with the Euro
European Central Bank

On January 1, 2002 a new currency arrived along with the new year-the Euro. This international currency, now used in twelve European countries, eliminates the need for national currencies. This means that citizens, travelers, and businesses can use a single currency when dealing with any one of the participating countries. This Web site provides useful information for European citizens and visitors alike about the new currency.

After choosing your preferred language, you arrive at a page with a side navigation bar that has topics ranging from information about the banknotes and coins, getting ready for the Euro, information for organizations, the children’s zone, background about the Euro, news and events, and a partners’ area. By clicking on the banknotes and coins link, you will get information on conversion rates, pictures of the currency, and design details. Once you know what the currency looks like, you can choose the getting ready link and find a timetable of implementation, information for travelers, and a list of frequently asked questions.

Full of useful facts, the organizations link has resources that will help companies and governments train employees to use the new currency. Children also have a place on the Web site. In the children’s zone, they can play games that help them understand how the Euro works. Next, if you are interested in the history of the Euro, select the background button and you will find a list of countries involved, glossary of terms, and overview of the European Central Banking system.

For current news, hit the news and events section where you will find press releases, press kits, and a list of events. Lastly, the partners’ area is a special area that provides information on the partners and has a restricted section for partners that requires a login and password.

This site gives you the facts, figures, and details you need to know about the new currency. With the knowledge you glean from this site, you will be prepared go borderless with the Euro.

Getting Ready to Jump on the DSL Bandwagon?
DSL Reports

If you're ready to install a DSL line, your first step is to find out whether DSL is supported at your home or business location. Stop by DSL Reports, plug in your zip code in the box that says "Check for Broadband in:" and away you go. Hopefully, you’ll be greeted with a healthy list of providers to choose from. But with all the horror stories about DSL taking forever to install--and DSL providers collapsing--who should you choose as your provider of choice?

Ask your neighbors. Scroll through the list that appeared instantly when you initiated the search for a provider. Listen to what neighbors in your zip code area have to say. Then click on "Top rated ISPs" to find out how your candidate fared overall. If you have some extra time on your hands and want even more input, head to the "Community" section and find out about problems others are having. Once you’re well into the set-up process, chances are you’ll be back to learn more about your new (or burgeoning) DSL line--scouring the site for more information on network settings, routers or security--or trying out the on-site testing tools like "Speed Test" and "Tweak Test." It's worth the trip.
